The ministry was started on 03 August 2008 on instruction by the Lord.

Ps Derek attended the Rhema Bible Training Centre for two years and graduated at the end of 1991. He and his wife Marge Bailey initially served as home fellowship leaders then area leaders, district leaders and finally as elders at Rhema Bible Church over a period of 18 years.

In 2007 Ps Derek was led to "start the ministry in Boksburg" in Gauteng’s East Rand. Ps Themis and Helen Themistocleous, graduates of Rhema Bible Training Centre, co-pastor the ministry. In 2011, the ministry became part the Rhema Family Churches.

As part of our outreach program, we have been reaching out to our local community by ministering to the students at Oosrand Secondary School on a regular basis. Many lives have been changed by the word of God and we give God all the glory.

We are a Bible believing Church and place much emphasis on the integrity of God's word.

​The ministry emphasis is on building strong families firmly established in and upon the word of God. We need strong families in order to build strong communities and strong communities build a strong society. And strong societies build a strong nation.
